Perhaps the most obvious is to attend the monthly club meetings where information about upcoming events, activities or classes is shared. Additionally, it’s an opportunityto become acquainted with other members. The monthly speakers’ presentations are generally interesting, educational and often about great fishing locations. So, it’s always good to come to the meetings whenever possible.

A second way to involve yourself in the club is to signup for and attend a class. There are a variety of offerings like Beginning and Advanced Casting, Small Stream Fishing, Rod Building, Fly Tying, Introduction to Fly Fishing, etc. There is something for each of us, regardless of our experience level or knowledge.

For those who want to get out there on the water, the club sponsors several trips each year that are designed to give members the opportunity to practice their angling skills while having a great time. The Beginning Fly Fishing trip to the Lower Owens River is looked forward to by both new and experienced members. There is a trip in the Spring to the San Juan River in New Mexico, one of the premier fisheries in the West. The trout Opener and Closer in the Sierras are always highlights for the year giving those who attend the chance to spend some quality time in pristine waters.

Members are always encouraged to get involved in the club by servings on a committee, becoming a Committee Chairperson or assisting with the planning of an event. Due to the number of individuals it takes to provide a quality experience for the school children, a committee that is always in need of assistance is Trout in the Classroom.
Each year the club is looking for members to run for a position on the Executive Board. The positions are: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. By being elected to one of these positions, you can make a real difference for Deep Creek Fly Fishers.

On another note, it has come to my attention that there are members who have not as yet paid their membership dues for this year. If you are one of them, please do so by paying at the next club meeting. If you are not sure if you have paid or not, you may check with our Membership Chairperson Mike Stuhl.
Hope to see you on the stream.
